Solanred® nutraceutical and cosmetic properties of a PDO ingredient, tested in collaboration with University of Calabria.
Solanred® extract is obtained from fruits of Solanum aethiopicum L. cv. Red Eggplant from Rotonda, an Eggplant cultivated in Basilicata (villages of Rotonda, Viggianello, Castelluccio Superiore, Castelluccio Inferiore – Potenza district), in the Southern of Italy.
This Eggplant has been imported from Africa to Italy by veterans of the Second World War and it has gained the PDO, “Protected Designation of Origin”.
Solanred® can be used in nutraceutical application for its following proprieties:
antioxidant activity (evaluated and tested in collaboration with University of Calabria performing DPPH and ABTS assay);
restorative and supporting effects (source of essential amino acids and micronutrients);
regulation of blood pressure;
hypolipidemic effect, modulating cholesterol blood level.
